REMOUNT & RETROFIT PROGRAM
EXTENDING SERVICE LIFE & PROVIDING TOP PERFORMANCE

Demers Ambulances and its Saskatoon Division (ARVI), understands that the cost of a brand-new unit might be out of the reach of those with limited budgetary means or requirements that do not require a "brand new" ambulance. To these customers, Demers Ambulances offers the Remount & Retrofit Program, a high-quality lower-priced alternative.

When a unit chassis has reached the end of its service life, the conversion module may be removed, refurbished and remounted onto a current model-year chassis. The result is a vehicle commonly referred to as a "remount" ambulance. It offers top-end performance and reliability. A "remount" unit meets the same standards and specifications as a brand new unit while costing a fraction of the price.

REMOUNTING CAPABILITIES & EXPERIENCE

The capabilities and experience of Demers Ambulances for remounting ambulances dates back to the origin of the Demers Ambulances Modular Body. Our design of modular units has always been pre-designed to be remounted should the customer desire to do so. This design philosophy is enacted by training and support throughout the Demers organization:

  • Demers Ambulances has over 50 years of remounting experience with present technicians who have been employed with the service department for at least 13 years. These technicians have acquired expertise in servicing our ambulances and use that knowledge for a better understanding of the remount process.
  • Demers Ambulances also have a service center at its Saskatoon Division (ARVI) with remounting capabilities. They perform an average of (12) remounts a year on different models and chassis, and have the capability to double that volume in their existing facility.
  • Engineering and drawings support for all remounts is provided by the Demers Ambulances Engineering team in Beloeil, which includes 3-D modeling as needed.
  • Working instruction for production line and for service center can be very useful for remounting purposes and help assure that the work to be performed is done in the exact same way that the production line first built the unit.
  • FTP web site can be accessed from any service center in the world. On this FTP, the service center or customer can download latest electrical schematic, any manufacturer installed equipment manuals, working instruction and any other relevant information that can be useful for customer and service center to use.
  • Demers Ambulances has developed an internal database that includes every single ambulance, with pictures, delivered from the production line. This data base makes it easier to be able to show, for any purpose, training, support, sales, engineering, etc, how the ambulance was originally manufactured.

Our service installation in Beloeil can accommodate (6) vehicles. For remounting capacity, Demers Ambulances (Beloeil) has (2) hydraulic lift. Both Demers Ambulances Beloeil and Saskatoon are capable of performing (2) remounts at the same time and take approximately 110 hours for a simple bolt off-bolt on remount to over 300 hours for a complete refurbishing.

With the total capacity, qualifications and experience of our personnel, Demers Ambulances can provide a basic remount price estimate for any vehicle within 100-120 man/hours (according to condition of original module). This estimate does not include additional time for refurbishment of the interior, paint repair or other repairs beyond those normally associated with the remount process.
