Demers manufacturing process

Our detailed manufacturing process is designed to produce efficiently, deliver on time and ensure quality, based on a solid corporate mission: To build innovative ambulances that deliver on customer expectations and assist paramedics in saving lives.

Demers Ambulances has a state-of-the-art, automotive-style horizontally integrated production facility with a continuous flow production process using 16 assembly stations. Our plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 1500 units.  Our production model is a detailed manufacturing process which is designed as a model-mix system, allowing multiple vehicle Types and configurations to be produced simultaneously while maintaining efficiency and product quality.

  • Model-mix production capacity; simultaneous production of different models and configurations of ambulances
  • Customization of products is integrated directly in the manufacturing process using dedicated project management and assembly teams
  • Detailed product design and advanced manufacturing engineering allows the production of large quantity orders in a short time frame
  • Production pace can be adapted depending on orders and products being produced ‐ typical production pace is between 2 and 3 hours per station
  • Automotive style assembly line allows for higher quality products in a shorter lead time
  • In house Continuous Improvement Team to ensure the integration of best practices in manufacturing and quality

Strategic Partnership with Expert Suppliers

  • Demers has developed a large network of strategic partners who are experts in their respective fields
  • These partnerships allow us to benefit from a much wider experience base
  • Our suppliers are focused on their manufacturing processes and continually strive to optimize quality, cost and delivery
  • Demers has a supplier quality audit program to ensure that our high standards of quality are applied throughout our supply base

Continuous Improvement Program

  • Our Continuous Improvement Program is based on three principles:
    • Improving worker health and safety
    • Improving quality of work
    • Improving work efficiency
  • To accomplish this each task for our production employees is well defined and outlined with work instructions and assembly guidelines
  • Employees are required to follow our ongoing training program
  • Continuous feedback from the inspection process is quickly transmitted back to the production line to correct quality issues
  • Production stations undergo quality audits as well as re‐organization of work stations using the 5S principles

Quality Assurance Program

Our Quality Assurance Program entails four keys aspects:

  • Supplier Quality : Ensuring quality of supplied parts
  • In process quality: Quality checks throughout the production process
  • Finished product quality control: Validation of the finished goods to meet quality standards
  • In service quality: Support for our products during their lifespan

Demers Electrical Multiplexing Systems (DEMS)

Multiplexing Solutions integrate step by step electrical/electronic systems in order to optimize not only the individual performance of each control, but to ensure that the whole vehicle behaves more efficiently by using the multiplexing technology.
Multiplexing is a method by which multiple analog message signals or digital data streams are combined into one signal over a shared medium. For the ambulance industry, this means reducing wiring while increasing configuration possibilities,
One of these possibilities is monitoring your equipment placement by RFID. This allows paramedics to make sure that they don’t forget any of their equipment once they leave the scene. Take a look at the video to learn more.
