Enhancing Vehicle Servicing Efficiency with Bluetooth Diagnostic Tools

Bluetooth diagnostic application

Maximizing uptime of emergency vehicles is key to operating a fleet efficiently. Designing vehicles that are easy to repair is one of the many ways that Demers is implementing to maximize operation time. Utilizing the MMC’s Bluetooth connectivity allows for real-time vehicle diagnostics through a simple cellphone connection.

Embracing Wireless Technology for Enhanced Diagnostic Convenience

With VisionPlex Mobile integrated into an emergency vehicle, issues can be diagnosed much more quickly and efficiently. With the capability to connect directly to a cell phone, these tools provide instant access to diagnostic information, ensuring that service personnel have the data they need exactly when and where they need it.

It’s important to note that if needed, the physical cables previously used are still available and functional.

The connected application (VisonPlex PC) remains the tool for writing to the software or configuring vehicle parameters. In addition, the PC connection has been greatly enhanced by the addition of a USB port directly accessible to fleet managers. The KIT-PR1002 (CAN to USB interface) is no longer needed to connect VisionPlex PC on the vehicle. A simple USB-C to USB-A communication cable, widely available everywhere, is the only required cable.

Real-Time Diagnostics for Quicker Assessment of Issue

One of the main advantages of MMC’s Bluetooth diagnostic tools is the ability to offer real-time diagnostic information through a wireless connection. In the past, accessing diagnostics was time-consuming and involved looking at schematics to understand where signals were connected. Instead of relying on LED indicators on multiplex modules and a schematic, with a simple Bluetooth connection to a cell phone, you can access signals states and quickly troubleshoot an issue. This includes essential information such as signal names, output currents, and input voltages, which will help technicians make informed decisions quickly.

Secured communication

The integrity of the ambulance software and configurations are essential to its operation and shall be protected against undesired intrusions. The Bluetooth diagnostic tool can only access the vehicle in Read Only mode. That means the ambulances will send signals states to the diagnostic tool but does not have the ability to modify its own software or configuration. This way, the ambulance remains protected and tamper-proof.

The diagnostic tool has been developed for iOS and Android mobile phones. This compatibility ensures widespread accessibility, allowing service personnel to utilize the tool regardless of their preferred mobile platform. Furthermore, the availability of these tools on the Apple Store and Google Play ensures ease of access for users, eliminating the need for additional software downloads or installations.

Sidenote: A QR code to download the application is easily accessible on the electric compartment door and in the owner’s manual.

Furthermore, the use of Bluetooth diagnostic tools makes problem-solving more efficient, reducing the frequency of calls to customer care centers. With immediate access to diagnostic information, service personnel can identify and resolve issues on-site, minimizing the need for additional support.

The integration of Bluetooth diagnostic tools into the automotive servicing industry has ushered in a new era of efficiency and effectiveness. With real-time access to diagnostic information via a cell phone’s Bluetooth connection, service personnel can diagnose and address vehicle issues with unprecedented speed and precision. Whether it’s reducing vehicle service time or streamlining ambulance diagnostics, these tools have become indispensable assets in the automotive servicing toolkit, ultimately benefiting both service providers and customers.
